Yep, I did it. \u00a0Bought a desk. \u00a0Just think of it. \u00a0A desk! \u00a0I haven\u2019t owned my own desk since I was in grade school. \u00a0In fairness, it\u2019s a different style of desk. \u00a0The top lifts up and the underside of the \u201clid\u201d is a white-board (I love<\/em> a white-board). \u00a0A desk\u2026of my very own\u2026in my house. \u00a0I did it.\u00a0 A desk represents a place you have<\/em> to be each day.\u00a0 A place where your purpose takes shape.\u00a0 The place I will most likely be when I set the course of my career.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is meaningful. \u00a0You see, over the past 25+ years I\u2019ve been given<\/em> a number of desks by my employers.\u00a0\u00a0 Albeit with a very<\/em> few companies, I\u2019ve held many positions through acquisition and promotion.\u00a0 Some of those desks were great, not fancy, but great.\u00a0 Think of them as the \u201cwork place storage chests\u201d of my career aspirations and dreams.\u00a0 I learned something at each desk, had highs and lows, and always welcomed the opportunity when my employer asked me to try out a new one.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I left the desk of the Senior Vice President of Operations at Trident University International on December 12, 2014. To be clear, it was a planned departure and I\u2019ve very much enjoyed the past few months. \u00a0I\u2019ve enjoyed sleeping past 5:30 or 6:00 AM, the occasional nap, having a boxer and a bulldog as my coworkers, catching up on Top Gear, learning to paddle board, even trying my hand at a few domestic activities. \u00a0It\u2019s also been great to have the time to reconnect with many in my network as I\u2019ve sought out my next, and hopefully last, employer provided desk.\u00a0 At this point I don\u2019t know who owns the desk I\u2019ll sit behind, nor do I know what state or city that desk currently sits in.\u00a0 I do know that the desk will be a part of an organization filled with energy and growth opportunity, smart and talented people sitting behind other desks, and a purpose driven mission.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Over the past few months I\u2019ve been offered a desk or two.\u00a0 I could have done a great job bellied up to these center drawers, no doubt.\u00a0 In my heart of hearts, I knew these were not the right fit for me at this stage of my career.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m fortunate enough, too, that I have a few other opportunities in the works.\u00a0 I\u2019d welcome any contacts you feel might lead me to a team I can join and assist in their growth.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Those who know me know that I can\u2019t be without purpose for any period of time.\u00a0 Thus, the first great venture undertaken at my new, very own desk is the formation of a consulting group:<\/p>\n
